TULPEN PUBLISHING's wish is to put God first: to be ethical, honest, furnish reliable edits, and offer an "author-friendly" environment with no upfront costs, industry-competitive compensation at 10 percent off the retail price for print books, 50 percent of net income for ebooks, world-wide distribution, and numerous tips for marketing.
Tulpen Publishing is primarily interested in fiction; however, we may be interested in non-fiction titles that are highly entertaining, and/or along the lines of devotionals or self-help books. No theology books please.
We're open to historical and contemporary novels (and novellas) of most genres, including fantasy and science fiction. This also includes YA fiction and chapter books. We're not quite ready for picture books yet.
Approximate word count for novellas 15,000-55,000, for novels 60,000-80,000, and for historical novels 65,000-110,000.
All stories must have a Christian worldview or a moral worldview pleasing to our heavenly Father. Please, no preaching and no conversion scenes, unless baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins is used (Acts 2:38). Don’t use miracles and/or mysticism to resolve conflicts or to “fix” a difficult plot. Miracles may be used only in biblical fiction. No profanity please. By the end of the story, the main character should have experienced spiritual and/or character growth.
PLEASE KNOW THE CRAFT BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT!
ALSO, NO SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS.

Is your plot limping along? Do your characters need a shot of believability? Do you have an overdose of adjectives and adverbs? If the answer is yes—or worse, you don’t know what I’m talking about—then you need a book doctor, and you DON'T know the craft!
If your book is in dire straights, I suggest you take it to the ER and find an editor, otherwise known as a "book doctor." Here is a company I trust: Inspiration For Writers.
If you can't afford an editor, here are some books you might find helpful:
"Self-editing for Fiction Writers" by Dave King and Rennie Browne
"The First Five Pages" by Noah Lukeman
"As the Plot Thickens" by Noah Lukeman
These books are available at your local bookstores, Amazon, or for free at the library.

If you DO know the craft:
When submitting, please put QUERY in the subject heading followed by the title of your book. Only query if your manuscript is completed. In a query, please attach the first three chapters (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt font) and a one to two-page synopsis (single-spaced). If this is enough to capture our interest, we will request a full manuscript.
